Transylmania II: The Vampire Bites Back! (or just Transylmania II) is a platformer game developed by Games Zeeks for the now-defunct Funschool Kaboose, and the sequel to Transylmania. It features a more involved storyline and new gameplay features as the villagers from the first game return to take down Vampy the vampire with the help of a mysterious new foe.

Controls[]

  • Left/Right: Move
  • Up: Fly
  • Down: Crouch
  • Space Bar: Kick

Plot[]

The villagers, hell-bent on destroying Vampy and undeterred from their previous failed attempt to eliminate the vampire, have once again stormed Vampy's castle, this time accompanied by the mysterious evil scientist Dr. Faustoner. They arrive in Vampy's chamber and prepare to slay him in his own coffin, only to find the coffin empty. However, Dr. Faustoner catches sight of a teddy bear, Vampy's beloved Deadly Bear, and gets a fiendish idea...

Later that night, Vampy enters his chamber and finds that his coffin has been opened. Looking inside, he sees to his dismay that Deadly Bear has been taken, and in its place is a ransom note from Dr. Faustoner. Desperate to get his treasured companion back, Vampy sets out to find clues to track Dr. Faustoner down.

Gameplay[]

Transylmania II features seven levels all played one after another; unlike the first game, this one also has a password system that allows you to skip levels you've already beaten by entering the right code at the password screen. In the first six levels, you have to explore the environment to find four block-shaped items known as Clues, and then find the coffin box at the end of the level before time runs out. In the seventh level, there are no clues to find; instead, you make your way through several rooms full of enemies and hazards which lead up to a final boss fight against Dr. Faustoner. If you run out of health or time, the game is lost.

In each level there are a variety of enemies that will try to get in your way. The majority of these enemies are humans that can be defeated simply by touching them from behind, which allows Vampy to bite them and suck their blood dry. Some of these humans wear armor and first have to be knocked over by kicking them so they can be bitten while they're down. Aside from those, there are also enemy monsters that can't be bitten at all and must be avoided at all costs.

In this game, Vampy's abilities run on a stamina system known as Vam-Power; kicking enemies costs a significant portion of Vam-Power, and flying will also cause Vampy to slowly lose Vam-Power. If you run out of Vam-Power, Vampy will become exhausted and you won't be able to kick or fly for a few seconds. Vam-Power slowly regenerates on its own, but can be replenished faster by biting enemies.

Levels[]

  1. The Attack of the Village People!: A level set in Vampy’s castle, which is being raided by Villagers and Archers.
  2. Carrion Luggage!: A level where you ride on a horse-drawn carriage through the woods. While riding the carriage, two horseback riders - one Villager and one Archer - will constantly pursue you. You can attack them to make them go away, but they will come back after a while.
  3. All Abhorred!: A level set in the middle of the sea, where you must explore three pirate ships to find clues and then get to the coffin in the third ship.
  4. Little Dead Riding Hood!: A haunted forest level full of seemingly normal humans who are actually Werewolves.
  5. A Grave Situation!: A level set in the catacombs that run underneath Dr. Faustoner’s tower. The catacombs are gaurded by lots of Skeletons, as well as some Villagers and Archers.
  6. It’s Raining Pieces of Men!: A level that has you climb up Dr. Faustoner’s tower while dealing with his freaky experiments.
  7. A Grizzly End!: A level set deeper in Dr. Faustoner’s tower. In this level you must pass through twelve rooms full of various enemies and hazards to get to the thirteenth room which is the heart of Dr. Faustoner’s lab.

Enemies[]

  • Villager: A basic human who carries a torch and walks back and forth. Some also appear in small boats floating on water. Running into him from the front will get you burned by his torch, but he can be defeated simply by bumping into him from above or behind. Appears in Levels 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7.
  • Archer: A more heavily armed human who wears a knight’s helmet and attacks by shooting flame arrows at you as he walks back and forth. To defeat him, you first have to kick him so his helmet falls off, then you can bite him while he’s down. Appears in Levels 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7.
  • Pirate: A sea-faring human who walks back and forth, and uses kicking attacks to try to impale you with his wooden peg leg. Appears in Levels 3 and 7.
  • Cannon: A big cannon that shoots huge flaming cannonballs at you but isn’t very accurate. Appears in Level 3.
  • Bat: A small bat that normally flies aimlessly in the air but will chase after you if you’re nearby. It doesn’t do any damage to you, but bumping into one will briefly stun you. Appears in Levels 3, 5, and 7.
  • Werewolf: A cursed human that normally behaves the same as a Villager, but will sometimes turn into a wolf. When in wolf form, the Werewolf is invincible and will attack by jumping at you. Appears in Level 4.
  • Skeleton: An undead human that hides underground and pops up when you get close. Once it’s popped out from underground, the Skeleton will run back and forth at a fast pace, and can be defeated the same way as a Villager. Kicking a Skeleton will also kill it instantly. Appears in Levels 5 and 7.
  • Frankenstein’s Monster: A big green humanoid monster that walks back and forth, and damages you on contact. He is invincible and hard to get around because of his size. Kicking the lower half of a Frankenstein’s Monster will knock him back a fair distance, while kicking his head will make it fall off, causing him to bend down to pick it up. Appears in Levels 6 and 7.
  • Mecha Bear: A giant robotic copy of Deadly Bear built and operated by Dr. Faustoner, appearing at the end of Level 7 as the final boss. It chases after you and attacks by swatting at you, and can only be defeated by luring it to the top of the lab where the Archers will hit it with their flame arrows until its health is depleted.

Passwords[]

With the exception of the final level, every level has a password consisting of five symbols; entering the correct password for any of the levels on the password screen will take you to the level after the one whose password you entered. Each password consists of a mix of four possible symbols; here they are denoted as B (for Bat), V (for Vampy), DB (for Deadly Bear), and S (for Skull).

  • Level 1 Password: B, V, DB, DB, S
  • Level 2 Password: B, DB, DB, B, B
  • Level 3 Password: S, DB, B, DB, V
  • Level 4 Password: DB, DB, S, S, S
  • Level 5 Password: B, V, V, DB, S
  • Level 6 Password: V, S, B, V, S

Glitches[]

  • Sometimes, when you complete a level, the sound of metal clanging can briefly be heard once the result screen comes up.
